I’m a little behind on this, but I finally put up some pics from NAMM. I had a great time demo’ing the new Rane Sixty Eight mixer. I’ve had the prototype since mid December and have been dying to tell people about it. Had to wait until NAMM due to non-disclosure agreements. Now it’s out!

So everyone is asking me what the word is on this.  Well here it is.  This mixer is the real deal, because it’s so much more than a traditional DJ mixer.  You’ve got 4 channels, which has been a much requested feature, especially in the house/EDM DJ world.  But on top of that, it’s a control surface for Serato, which no other mixer has.  You can get to all your cue-points easily with the big buttons on the left and right sides.  The cue buttons are even lit up to show you which ones are set, and which ones are empty.  Above the cue point buttons, you have controls to do all of your auto and manual looping, which just about every DJ uses.  You can also browse your library and load songs, all without having to touch your laptop.  Plus, it’s got 2 high quality soundcards so you can plug 2 laptops in at a time, making it really easy to switch between DJ’s during sets.  You can even have both laptops playing at the same time (2 channels each), if you want.  The effects are easy to use, and easy to activate.  No knob turning, like the Pioneer DJM800.  The Sixty Eight also has filter sweep knobs on each of the channels.  It’s even got 2 headphone jacks.  And to top it off, it’s the exact same crossfader as the TTM57.  Bad ass mixer.

I spent the rest of my time at NAMM checking out some of the gear, and networking with vendors.  I’ll be endorsing some cool products…more word on that later.  Another cool thing about NAMM is meeting other DJ’s.  I finally met D-Styles and all of the Beat Junkies.  These guys were big inspirations to me in the late 90′s when I started getting into DJ battles.  I also got meet Z-trip again (one of my favorite DJ’s), and got to talk to Joe Hahn and BT (I’m big fans of both.)  Randomly saw the girl from Heroes walking around (Claire’s roommate) and I snuck a pic with her.  I also ran into Ric’key Pageot and Monte Pittman of the Madonna tour.
